Welcoming New Patients at Our Dental Clinic

Your initial appointment at our Thunder Bay dental clinic is the first step toward achieving optimal dental care. We’re a group of clinicians and administrative professionals who are here to meet all of your dental needs.

Your first visit to Current River Dental is what we call “The New Patient Experience.”

We believe this experience is both positive and rewarding and establishes a necessary foundation for our continued relationship with you.

On this first date we will obtain important background information, including your medical and dental histories. This is pertinent information that we require in order to evaluate your dental health and plan the best course of treatment for you.

The first appointment will take approximately 2 hours. During this time we will be completing the following:

  • Inspection of your smile, teeth, gums, jaw, bite and an oral cancer screening
  • X-rays taken to diagnose any areas of decay or disease
  • Planning your ideal treatment, including length of appointment time and costs

To prepare for your first visit you may complete the New Patient Form, Medical History Form and Privacy Act Form. If you are unable to complete your forms in advance, please arrive to your appointment 20 minutes early to complete them in our office.

If you have dental benefits, please be sure to bring your insurance information to your appointment.

We are excited to welcome you to our practice and look forward to meeting your dental needs.

Our practice is dedicated to providing quality care and exceptional service. We respect the importance of your time and work very hard to schedule appointments that accommodate the busy scheduling needs of all our patients. In return, we ask that patients make every effort not to change reserved dental appointments. Broken or missed appointments create scheduling problems for other patients, as well as the practice.

If you find that you must change your appointment, we require a minimum of 2 full business days’ notice so that we can accommodate the needs of another patient. There may be a fee charged for a missed appointment or if cancelled with insufficient notice.

Payment Options

At Current River Dental we are happy to offer options for payment of your dental treatment.

We do accept assignment (direct pay from your insurance company) as a courtesy to our patients. As dental plans have become increasingly complicated and reimbursement levels are unpredictable, we offer the following options to pay the "Out of Pocket Portion" (any treatment not covered by your insurance plan).

OPTION 1

Pay for your dental appointment in full on the day of your dental treatment using Visa, MasterCard, Interac, Cash or Cheque. If your insurer is online with CDAnet, we can submit your insurance form electronically on the day of your visit and you should be reimbursed within 3-5 business days.

OPTION 2

Easy Pay Plan: Signed consent that authorizes us to debit your Visa or MasterCard for the balance remaining after we receive payment from your insurance company or if payment has not been received within 30 days. You may print and fill out our Easy Pay Plan Brochure.

OPTION 3

A cash deposit is left on the account in lieu of credit card. Any remaining balance will then be covered by this cash deposit.

*All children under the age of 18 years must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to the appointment. You may refer to our Office Policy Brochure for full office details.
